The Kansas Jayhawks in New York City

| |
Tuesday night was not my typical night in NYC. Instead of heading home after work, I headed to Madison Square Garden to watch the Kansas Jayhawks take on the Memphis Tigers. Yes, you read right. I got to watch my Hawks thousands of miles away from Lawrence, Kansas in one of the most famous arenas in the country! When I found out the men’s basketball team was coming to the city, I was pumped and purchased discounted tickets through the NYC Chapter of the KU Alumni Association. Not only was I excited about the game, but I was excited to expose Alex to Jayhawk Basketball! Considering you can’t find Kansas apparel in New York, I went online and ordered Alex a KU t-shirt to wear to the game. I just couldn’t have my man standing next to me at the game without representing! ;-)

After work on Tuesday, Val and I headed uptown to meet her aunt and her aunt’s friend at a bar for a pre-game drink, but as soon as we arrived at Stout, I realized I had forgotten the tickets at the office. No pre-game drinks for me. I jumped back on the train to head back to work to retrieve our tickets. I put them safely in my purse then took yet another train back to MSG. I was so mad at myself for forgetting, but wasn’t surprised at all as it is definitely something I would do, obviously. The bright side was, I still made it to the stadium in time for tip off. Katy, Val, myself AND Alex were all proudly decked out in our Jayhawk gear and we cheered them on to a victory over Memphis 81-68. It was super fun to watch the Hawks in New York City. I would definitely say my first visit to MSG was a memorable one!

One last note, it was so cute to see Alex in his Jayhawk shirt cheering for Kansas. He even texted me the next day, “Rock Chalk!” I couldn’t help but smile and laugh out loud. He is such a New Yorker and to see him jump on board the KU bandwagon just for me made me so happy! His transition into a Jayhawk is going quite nicely, before long, (perhaps after his visit to Kansas this month) he’ll be a true Jayhawk!

Love that you are blogging more! I'm so jealous that you got to go to the game! Glad to see Alex wearing Crimson and Blue. That could have been a deal breaker!

LOVE IT! I'm shocked that you already posted this, but I think you just wanted to show off your man ;) Either way- I'm happy to see it!

Alex, has been supporting KU, look he has been dating you. He should know, one way into your mom's heart is being a Jayhawk fan.
